Mikołaj Długosz was the first visual artist to take advantage of the archives of communist-era postcards. In 2006, long before most of us took an interest in forgotten images of the past, he published the now-famous album Lovely weather, it’s a shame to leave. The publication you are holding is not merely a rehash of that book. Summer in the City comprises wholly different material, with a markedly more critical analysis of Polish postcards of the 1970s and 80s.
